I sent a model to both Shapeways and Kraftwurx at the same time. I had the Kraftwurx model in my hand in 3 days, it took Shapeways 11 days.
The Models cost the same, but the Kraftwurx postage was more expensive. That said, the Kraftwurx model came well packaged in a cardboard box including a Kraftwurk mousepad, Kraftwurx ball point pen, and a Kraftwurx sticker! The Shapeways model came in a flimsy cardboard envelope that had one end torn out during shipping. Luckily the model was still in the envelope. The envelope contained no swag.
The quality of the models was the same. Sandstone was the material.
The only fly in the Kraftwurx ointment was the website. The Shapeways site was fairly easy to navagate, and uploading a model to order while not having it available to the general public was easy. The Kraftwurx site was complex, with a lot of sub-menus and tabs, and I had a lot of difficulty setting things up. I don't think they had a method of uploading a model and ordering it without exposing the model to the general public. (I notice that they now have that functionality. Yay!)
Overall, the impression I got was that Kraftwurx was more anxious to please than Shapeways. Even though the site was more difficult to figure out, I got the model faster, with the packaging in better condition.
I am going with Kraftwurx.
